Execute an easy blue maneuver, however, and you can remove a stress token.Ĭarefully plotting your movements is critical to success in X-Wing Second Edition. Pull off a daring red maneuver and you might get the drop on an enemy ship, but you’ll also have to take a stress token, limiting your options in future rounds. When it’s this ship’s turn to activate, you’ll use the corresponding maneuver template to complete the move.Įvery maneuver that you make affects your pilots and determines how they can be used later on. You choose a two-speed right bank on the X-wing’s dial. To move, you simply move your ship along the maneuver template, as shown below! Each maneuver that you select on your ship’s maneuver dial has a speed and a heading that determines the maneuver template you’ll use. Taking the foundational system from the game’s first edition, moving your ships in X-Wing Second Edition is quick and easy. This straightforward system provides a wealth of tactical depth, allowing you to make gentle turns or aggressive loops while trying to stay one step ahead. During the round, the lowest skilled pilots are forced to move first, as they attempt to get into position to open fire. This initiative value determines when your ships will act. On every ship card, you’ll find an initiative value that represents that pilot’s reflexes, skill, and even luck. Because of this, each pilot will react to their surroundings differently. Once a maneuver has been locked in for every ship, it’s time to start flying.Īny squadron is composed of pilots of varying skills, from rookies encountering their first action to hardened veterans used to the din of battle. Using these unique maneuver dials, you’ll secretly select each ship’s maneuver at the top of the round. As in the first edition, every ship in X-Wing Second Edition flies differently with a completely unique maneuver dial. One player wins when all enemy ships are destroyed!Īs the commander of your squadron, you begin each round by deciding how your pilots will fly their ships. If you can successfully outmaneuver your opponent, you’ll catch the enemy ships in your sights and open fire. ![]() ![]() This is Inov-8's answer to popular demand for wider toe boxes on minimalish shoes. ![]() Likewise, the tongueless, one-piece upper is a dream! Without a tongue shifting to the side during your run, you'll wonder why other shoes don't employ this sort of design.Īnother Bare-X Lite 150 feature that exceeds my expectations is the Anatomic Fit (or last). So, you don't have to worry about elastic material becoming overly stretched and useless after a while. These laces are made of the stuff that most laces are made of. But, that's not the case with the Bare-X Lite 150. When you see a tying system that involves this sort of pull-tab-noose thing, the laces are usually elastic. (If I have the order of that shoe change wrong, it's because I know practically nothing about triathlons) I imagine that this quick-pull-tab lacing system will be especially useful to triathletes who have to change from biking shoes to running shoes as efficiently as possible. And, there's something so satisfying about simply slipping on the shoes and not tying the laces. My concerns about the securing tab working itself loose during a long run have not come to fruition. That "quick lace system" I pointed out in the initial review is better than I expected. ![]() The Things You Think You Will Like Will Be the Things You Like And, that's not the way to run in zero-drop shoes, now is it?īare-X Lite 150 outsole after about 100 miles Although, I might if I landed squarely on my heels. I don't have this sensation when running. It's as if I feel the outline of the curved margin that you see in the photo, the line delineating the shape of the heel in the tread. I'll point out that my right heel feels some special sensitivity to the ground when I'm walking in these shoes. ![]() And, I find that I enjoy the "ride" in the Bare-X 150 more now than several miles ago, especially while running up hills. However, I should add that the subtle rigidity goes away after 50-or-so miles of running. (see instead the Bare-X 200 or Bare-X 180 ) And, some people looking for a barefoot replacement shoe might be disappointed by this one's somewhat rigid platform. It's just not the most flexible shoe out there. It's still delightfully more flexible than some other minimal-ish shoes. But, the Bare-X Lite's rather uniformly compounded, flat sole makes the shoe a smidgen more resistant to folding in half than the f-lites. I based my expectations for this shoe on the f-lite line, which has a great degree of flexibility right out of the box. So, as long as these don't wear down to smooth, slippery plastic, the cleverly compounded outsole material should remain sufficient for pavement running.Ī unique aspect of this EVA-rubber-fusion-compound midsole/outsole is that it's a bit more rigid at first than one might expect. And, that doesn't require much in the way of tread. 'Course, it's important to note that we're not expecting these shoes to take us over special terrain. The outsoles of my 150s could easily last a few hundred more miles. The Natural Running Store's Patton Gleason does a really nice job of explaining just how durable the Bare-X Lite 150 is after a bunch of miles. The majority of shoe retail websites, as well as the Inov-8 site itself, describe the Bare-X Lite outsole and midsole in vague terms-rubber, compound, fusion-without betraying enough detail for us to really know how the shoe's going to endure several hundred miles on pavement.Īnd, as is often the case with many shoes touting lightweight awesomeness, durability comes into question. And, I'd even venture to say that it's more awesome after 100 miles than it was when brand new. It turns out that the Bare-X Lite 150 remains fantastic for pavement running well after 100 miles. (And, why wouldn't I? I mean, it's not like I'm going to waste much time reviewing a shoe that I'm sure I won't like as soon as I see it.) In my initial review of the Bare-X Lite 150, I wrote pretty positively about the shoe. Lucky for you, I'm in a position to provide a 100-plus-mile update review. Now that the Inov-8 Bare-X Lite 150 is showing up in a variety of colorways across the shoe retailer webosphere, you may be curious about the shoe's level of awesomeness. ![]() ![]() Resogun looks like the easiest game in the world to play, but it’s one of the toughest to master. Managing to complete a level without losing a life, using a bomb, saving all humans & without losing your combo counter is one of the most difficult/rewarding experiences on the PS4. This is where the real depth & replayability becomes evident. Nope!!! The aim of Resogun is to get as many points as possible, whilst STILL doing all of the above. The aim of the game is to survive all 5 levels, defeat the bosses, save the humans blah blah blah. The controls for this game are literally perfect. It’s never a rip-off & never feels cheap when you die. The ship does exactly what you want it to do. ![]() The movement is so precise that it’s like an extension of your thoughts. We already know the game looks & sounds brilliant & I’m happy to inform that it plays even better! Controlling your ship is flawless. It sounds strange, but makes complete sense once you play. This allows you to view enemies on the far side of the level & plan your moves well in advance. You move on a 2D axis (up/down, left/right) but the level itself is cylindrical. Resogun is a 2.5D arcade style shoot-em-up. In a cool little move, her voice comes out of the Dualshock 4 rather than the speakers (although you can change this in options). She will tell you when there are keepers present, when you have collected power ups & keep tabs on your combo multiplier. She tells you to save the humans in each level & keeps the player informed during the game. There is no voice acting to speak of, but there is a robot-lady voice present in Resogun. They are brilliant & sound like remixed versions of the Street Fighter 4 & Terminator themes respectively. Special kudos must be paid to the tracks on levels 2 & 4. Great beats underline the explosive action & add to the overall experience. It’s not to my personal taste (needs more guitar!), but it is suited perfectly to the on screen action. It’s glorious!Īlso worthy of note is the excellent dance soundtrack. Phew, even talking about it is intense! The levels are also destroyed as you progress through the game & just wait until you see the Armageddon after defeating each boss. Enemies surround you from every angle, there are bullets all over the screen, explosions showering the screen in neon. This game is truly an attack on the senses. When you start shooting, Voxels explode EVERYWHERE in a beautiful fireworks display. This game is fucking gorgeous! Everything is created from small coloured cubes called Voxels, & there are millions in each level. The presence of any narrative would undermine the core gameplay mechanic of building up high scores. This is an arcade style game that’s about getting the highest score, not the highs & lows of surviving an apocalyptic onslaught. ![]() Your goal is to destroy the alien/AI enemies (it’s never made clear which) whilst saving the last of humanity. So basically there is no story… & that’s fine. This should be quick! She took her obsidian knife to cut the baby's throat before she cut her own. In ancient times they were also made out of obsidian and used in all surgeries. One way of making a scalpel is to strike a sharp flake off an obsidian block (core) and fix it into a handle. Secondly I want to to talk about the forceps. Answer (1 of 3): The edges are either ground with fine diamond wheels or they are flaked. ![]() So if we were to compare the surgical scalpel from ancient Egyptian times to right now, Egyptians use the same materials as we do today.
